ING Appoints Co-Heads for HK and Macau
Insurance, Pensions & Financial Planning Businesses

Mr. Wim Hekstra and Mr. Lennard Yong have been appointed as Co-Heads of Insurance, Pensions & Financial Planning for Hong Kong and Macau. The appointments will further reinforce ING’s strong positioning in the market. Both Mr. Hekstra and Mr. Yong have taken on the management of these businesses in HK and Macau since January 2010.

 

Mr. Lennard Yong, in this new extended role, oversees areas including finance, investment, risk, actuarial and operations & IT. Mr. Wim Hekstra, in his new role, oversees fields including sales distributions, product development, marketing and corporate communications.  
Lennard joined the ING HK business in November 2008 as Chief Financial Officer and was responsible for Finance, Actuarial, Compliance and Investments. Prior to this, he has worked within ING Group across a range of businesses in different countries, starting with ING Australia's wealth management business in 1999.

In 2005, he relocated to the Hong Kong to work in ING Asia Pacific regional office as a financial controller overseeing several business functions in Insurance and Investment management. At the end of 2007, he moved to work in the corporate headquarters of ING Group in Amsterdam for the Group Chief Financial Officer. Before joining ING in 1999, Lennard started his career in Westpac Banking Corporation in Sydney in Commercial and later Corporate transactional banking.

Lennard is a Chartered Accountant and CPA (Australia) and holds a Master of Commerce from University of New South Wales and Bachelor of Business from Curtin University in Perth.
  Wim has been the Deputy CEO of ING Life in Hong Kong and Macau since June 2008, and was responsible for all sales distribution channels of the Company's life business, including tied agency, bancassurance, brokerage, IFA and other distribution networks. He first joined ING Life in February 2007 as General Manager, Strategic Partnerships & Business Development. In this role, he has achieved exceptional results in creating valuable synergy and producing substantial sales performances through strategic partnerships with banks and brokers. Prior to his ING appointment, Wim had more than ten years' experience in sales and marketing and was responsible for Heineken's operation in Hong Kong and Macau from 2003 to 2007.

Wim holds a Master of Business Administration (Financial Sector) degree from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, and is a graduate of NIMA A&B (Advanced Marketing Course) and the International Management Course of INSEAD, Paris.
